Innovative Teacher - Digital Storytelling - “Digital Storytelling is the modern expression of the ancient art of storytelling. Digital stories derive their power by weaving images, music, narrative and voice together, thereby giving deep dimension and vivid color to characters, situations, experiences, and insights. Tell your story now digitally." Leslie Rule, Center for Digital Storytelling

Photostory - Introduction to Sixth Graders

The students in this class need to write a poem about winter.

They have taken about ten photos of winter around them. They have completed their creative writing assignment.

We will now take a look at FOUR EXAMPLES of a poem project done in Photostory to come up with a list of things that make or break a photostory project (AFL). They vary in quality. whatswrongwiththis.doc has a list of things you might want the kids to pay attention to as they watch these samples - or discuss after they have watched them.

Here is a sample STORY BOARD - walk through it with the kids. Story boarding makes for much better final projects. Things can still change on the fly as this actually did, but planning makes a difference!
